I drove 160 miles round trip today with my Garmin 1350 and I couldn't get
more than 1 orange bar at best... No signal. Perfect weather, clear skies,
only very cold... no physical interference. Any thoughts about potential
reasons?

Some cars used to have window tinting that blocks radiosignals from
penetrating into the car.
Did you make any changes to your car or is this a different car from your
usual one?

Mac -

What was the temperature of the GPS? If you had the heater going full
blast, it might have been a bit too warm for it.

A far-fetched possibility is that there was a temperature inversion in
the area of your trip. Such a weather phenomenon might have trapped GPS
signals in a "duct" that carried them great distances, but at a higher
altitude than where you were.

There could have been a solar flare that disrupted GPS signals, but we
would probably have heard about that.

I believe the GPS is damaged. I left the GPS overnight inside the car one
night the temperature dropped to single digits. After that it hasn't
worked well. Today I was able to lock the satellites, after more than 30
minutes, but it dropped it after a few minutes for no apparent reason and
could not re-lock the signal again.

I think I'll call Garmin on Monday to get an RMA and send it for repairs. I
hope it is cost effective rather than just buying a new one...
