Just got the Garmin 265 WT GPS

Had a few problems with it sinking with my cell phone

Yesterday put brough it and my cell phone on a local trip. Just
wanted it for the Blueray use.

With both on I drive out of my driveway and the Garmin tells me to
turn right at the next street up. At first I thought it someone had
loaded an earlier trip of mind.

Then it had me make turns I do not normally make nor every put in.

Then it took me abut 5 miles then a turn and another turn I have never
made to a house I have never been to.

I dont know but the only think I can think of is that a neighbor with
the same phone and entered his trip in and the Satillite had
transfered back to my phone. For a second I noticed a name on my map
a few blocks away but that hasnt come back

Been in contact with Garmin.. They had me update the the phone on the
Web but denied what I discribed could ever happen.

I sort of argued about but they wished me good luck.

Unlike the likes of the GPSmap 76 series units, the 265 isn't
designed to float.

Not sure about the other problems you're having with it though.

Congrats. Is this your first GPS?

I think you mean syncing, as in synchronizing?

I think you mean Bluetooth?

Someone programmed a trip. It wasn't you? Were you curious where it
was taking you, or did you have some other reason not to hit the Stop
button?

It has nothing to do with your phone, as far as I can tell. Someone
created a route (point A to Point B) and you blindly followed it. Is
that about right?

I also wish you good luck. Be careful not to drive down a road that
doesn't exist or across a bridge that was removed.

Thanks for the post,
Sorry about the misspellings, late night and lazy I guess

What I describe is what happen. I did follow the route because it was
the direction I was going and I was curious.

Have no idea how it happen just guessing what might be logical
reason, haven't heard a better explantion and I can understand why
Garmin might not what to admit to certain things.

Seems to be some jerks in this newsgroup

The suggested route is calculated from the on-board maps and any
routing prefences/avoidances you've got set. The maps are the
standard set sold to everyone. The preferences/avoidances
include things like whether you're a car, bicycle, pedestrian,
etc, whether you want the shortest route or the least transit
time, and whether you want to avoid toll roads, unpaved roads,
U-turns, etc.

The only relevant information coming from the satellite concerns
the determination of your present position at any point on your
journey.

That sounds very much like paranoia. Data from GPS satellites
used by consumer GPS units is broadcast data. It is not addressed
to anyone in paticular.

Nor have you given us any routing detail other than to say that
the GPS suggested turns you weren't expecting it to.

Without intending to be sarcastic, I agree - but far fewer that
most other newsgroups these days.
