I have a Nüvi 350 and apart from some problems with updating the system
software I am very satisfied with it. Now I would like to buy a GTM 11 FM
TMC traffic receiver to connect it to my Nüvi..

Does anyone have any experience with this unit? How does it work in western
and central Europe?

On the Garmin home page http://www.garmin.com/products/gtm11/ it says: "In
continental Europe: Basic TMC data is a free public service, accessible
through a number of providers".
Any comments on this?

Thank you!!!!

True! At least for Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria many
public radio broadcast stations provide a cost free TMC signal, with
basically the status messages spoken every 30 minutes on these.

With the Navigon receiver and software on the PocketPC this works
well, in areas where it makes sense to try to get around jams. You
should always consult what you carry around between your ears before
you follow an automatic detour, and this will be a useful service for
you!

In addition there is a TMC Pro service broadcasted by some. This gives
basically the data from the many traffic sensors on the motorways.
With Destinator software on the PocketPC you can use (=unlock) this.
Payment is by purchase of the software or the receiver. I don't have
that, and never missed it.
