Does someone know how to record GPS altitude into track log instead of
barometric altimeter of GPS60CSx?
I would like to use it in a pressured cabin of jets. In the pressured
cabin, my it records wrong altitude based on the artificial pressure in
the cabin.
I know the models without barometric altimeter can record correct GPS
altitude in track data even in the pressured cabin.
Thanks,
Yoshy

no. I had one of the first Vistas and it recorded baromatric altitude in the
track.

the "S" variants measure both GPS & barometric altitude. If go to a new
location, altitude and weather then immediately barometric data from
previous use will prevail but after some minutes the displayed
elevation will become the true GPS value. Conversely if you are at a
fixed location in high gusty winds there will be pressure fluctuations
(Venturi effect) this will appear on the track record as altitude
changes. These an substantial say with wind gusting across a ridge or
blowing between tall buildings etc. So once you have reached cruising
altitude you will be recording true elevation. I sometimes wish I had
bought a 60Cx rather than the 60CSx as I hardly ever use the compass. I
can use the mBar as a weather barometer!

Disabling the barometric altitude would be a neat feature, just as on

can turn the compass on and off.
