can anyone provide any tips on connecting the GPS12 to a Vista PC?
Is there a specific setup for the serial port, (9600, 8-N-1) I cant get map
source or the updater to see it

No, I am just smarter than to buy a Computer with VISTA as an Operating
System.... VISTA is CRAP, and anyone who has a lick of sense, Knows
It..... Has been since it was released, and still is after all this
time... Must be your to stupid, to operate a computer in the first
place...

The serial connection to your computer to transfer waypoints is setup in
MapSource or Trip and Waypoint Manager:

And the unit set to the GARMIN mode...
To receive NMEA data through Hyper Terminal, HT must be set to
(4800, 8, None, 1, None)
And the unit set to the NMEA/NMEA mode...
The GPS12 has no map capability, and it is a single-channel unit, as I recall...
