Hi, I am looking to get another GPS unit. I use Bluecharts on my Map76C,
which apparently is soon to be obsolete. I was hoping to get a
recommendation on a more modern approx. 4" unit I could put Bluecharts
on, and also use it in the car with the latest highway maps. I'm
thinking I'd like to get a used unit on ebay because considering my
current financial state, the whole idea of spending more than a hundred
or two right now scares the bejeezuss out of me, especially if my wife
found out. :-)
In case any of you are thinking I should just do my own homework, I'll
agree with you. I have been and am, but I figure some of you with way
more knowledge than I have can give me some good starting points, or more.
And oh yeah: I absolutely love GPS. I think it's the greatest invention
since HD television, um, or vice versa.
Any help?
Stephen
I would suggest to snap all the funny thoughts out of your head. Or if
you want to save few bucks then GOOGLE for the lowest price instead of
dreaming about eBay gonna save your soul.
eBay, I wish there is more Chinese seller as they offen have much better
deal than American sellers they think money grows on tree or American can
print their own money.

If you are thinking about Garmin GPS then I would suggest you to Google
for more detail information of whatever model you want to buy. Or with
Garmin newer doesn't always mean better, but quite often stupidier.
4"? I don't think there is any exact 4" model but 3.x, 4.x and I think 5"
is the largest.

I don't know about you and toher, but I do, and that is why I started
using GPS over a decade ago. And just ordered a newer model yesterday

- For any specific question for specicic model then just spell it out
- For general information then GOOGLE should be your best friend, and with
all the information from Google you should be able to write couple books

Okay, what are the model #s of the lowest priced, yet decent functioning
GPS's (Garmin or otherwise) that do both roads and marine, that are
still use-able, either new or discontinued?
Thanks,
Stephen

What are the model of the lowest price? How about store charge the least
amount?

I don't have any specific model recommendation for you as I have no
experience with marine requirements and uses. However, based on
personal experience, I would avoid the auction sites as one cannot
verify the GPSs' operational status beforehand. A faulty and/or
locked--IOW, stolen--GPS is not worth the chance to me unless you like
gambling with your money and time. You're in the metro-NYC area? You
could check your local Craigslist postings for used GPS units. I've
picked up several GPSs for fairly low and reasonable prices. However,
like you said, do your homework first--know what you want and what
you're buying when you approach the sellers. Best to you!
