In addition to the other stuff I posted I thought I'd mention: If you're
just starting to shop, FIRST, consider where you live.
For instance, you can see here:
http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/index_150.htm
that buying a GPS that provides traffic NAVTEQ info is useless if you live
in .. New Mexico, or the Dakotas, etc. Check traffic providers NAVTEQ, MSN,
etc for coverage maps and that might make the decision for you.

do a Google search for
gps traffic providers

The below is what the Nuvi 1490T Traffic Icon looks like. It's 2 cars
inside the BLUE ROUND icon (left side)
http://www.gpsmart.ca/usrimage/cat238.jpg
The ICON changes color from BLUE = Normal BROWN = Slow and RED = Accident or
whatever I have never run into RED to know more.
And as you have mentioned in other message, click on the Traffic Icon will
display more detail of what has been going on within ## miles radius I think
it's similar to most if not all Nuvi models with traffic option.
The Nuvi 680, I got accident reported ONCE and it was within 1-2 miles on
Interstate Hi-Way inside city, so the chance to detour is pretty much 50/50
chance. If it's outside of city then it may not have an exit for miles.

One of us has difficulty with colors... I see green in the picture you
referenced as well as on both of my 1490Ts. Yellow for slow and red for
worse.

I noticed the same thing. "Blue, brown, red" becomes a much more
expected "green, yellow, red".

I have seen the YELLOW once (or brown I am not so sure), but it just
appeared for few short seconds. I have never run into RED but read the info
from manual.
So far I like the Nuvi 1490T better than the Nuvi 680, especially the
anti-glare works real nice for motorcyle. The only issue I have with Nuvi
1490T is the USB connection which doesn't work well with motorcycle as it
can easily get loose, or some bump may cause Nuvi 1490T to RESET and it
starts all over again.
IOW, without the bump the 1490T acts as charger and would ask if I want to
power stay ON or OFF. But because with regular USB connector (I don't use
the one comes with 1490T) when it has some tiny issue with the connection it
starts with the DATA mode (computer) then switch to GPS mode some seconds
later.
