Is GME still the rep for Garmin Australia? Their website has no reference to
Garmin now, but it is also "under construction".
Also I was noticing that new maps are $150usd or $125usd for the upgrade.
Not much of a discount for the upgrade.
Baz
GME handed the distribution back to Garmin on July 1st. Garmin now have
their own operation in Sydney Australia. For more information and new
contact details go to the Garmin website and select Australia as the
country.

And Garmin Australia are a lot less helpful than GME were, sadly.
I'll rephrase that. They were rude & gave information that turned out
to be wholly inaccurate.
The upgrades are A$99, and now available in retail stores. They are
only US$125 if you purchase through Garmin.
Only upgrades are currently available, and only NT versions. Full
versions & non-NT versions *should* be available next month.

Crikey, that's hard to imagine.
While IME Garmin have been totally unhelpful with issues, GME have demonstrated
incompetence bordering on the supernatural, and were (again, IME) an absolute
and total waste of oxygen.

I can believe that.

What happened to the glowing testimonials I used to read saying that Garmin
would go out of their way on warranty and service issues.
I recently had some experience with GME or whoever had the Garmin service
contract through GME when I sent my dead Quest in for repair, and they were
very helpful. When I have dealt with GME themselves, I did find them to be
less than hoped for in terms of product knowledge and customer service. It
is pretty bad if Garmin themselves offer less service than the previous
agent
I wonder if it is worth writing to Garmin international and letting them
know that Garmin Australia is dragging the chain.
