Just spotted this on Garmin's site:

http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1247

Changes made from version 3.30 to 3.50:

a.. Change number of lines of text in the address field on map feature
review page from 4 to 6.
b.. Improve robustness when recovering from a partial map load.
c.. Limit number of custom POI bitmaps to 64 to ensure enough memory
resources.
d.. Added better compatibility with Mac computers in USB mass storage
mode.
e.. Improved pedestrian route calculation for shortest distance method.
f.. Added ability to recalculate a direct goto route.
g.. Fix issue where MPC maps could potentially cause a shutdown.
h.. Address issue where nearest points search would skip some points.
i.. Changed datum used in the the SWEREF 99TM grid to GRS80.
j.. Changed datum used in the the Estonian grid to GRS80.
k.. Fix potential shutdown when using TOPO West 1999.
l.. Fix potential shutdown on track setup for data card when track log
files have long file names.
m.. Corrected French translation for 'Log track points'.
n.. Improved promptness of the turn review popup.
o.. Improve track log recording for sensor products to continue recording
sensor data even when GPS doesn't have a fix.
p.. Fix potential shutdown when propagating in a cul-de-sac across a map
boundary.
q.. Added more time zones.
r.. Fix potential shutdown when clearing recent find list when custom POI
with custom bitmaps are in the list.
s.. Add A905/D900 unlock code communication protocol.
t.. Make route recalculation on MPC maps behave like City Navigator maps.
u.. Remove lithium ion as a battery choice. For 76x add lithium battery
choice.

Don't see it listed, but wonder whether they increased the maximum useable
card memory from 2GB to 4GB.

Looks like there are similar updates for the 60Cx, 60CSx and 76CSx as
well.

I downloaded the new firmware and installed it directly from the PC (not via
Webupdater) onto my GPSMap 60Csx (without problems). However, during the
updating process it says "3.30" ! (not 3.50)

When checking the firmware in the device, it says 3.50 ;=)

AFAIK this is normal. I have noticed on several updates on different GPSs
that it always displays the version it is updating FROM.
