FYI: FREE map update on a Refurbished Garmin

For those who purchase a Refurbished Garmin you may need to call
Garmin Tech Support to have them reset your 60 day window for the free
one time map update.

I purchased a Refurbished Garmin Nuvi 765T from buy.com on November
28th. When I registered on Dec 4th I only saw firmware updates. If I
checked for map updates it said they were available but I would be
charged $69.95.

The map on my unit is 2010.10 and I know that 2010.30 is the current
one.

Today I called to find out why I couldn't get the one time free map
update and found out the reason was the previous owner had turned the
unit on in September and the refurbishing process did not reset that
date.

All I had to do was to forward my buy.com order and as of right now I
am downloading the 2010.30 2gb map.
