Greetings fellow Garmin Fans,
How can I stop my garmin from deviating the route that I have set up
in Mapsource?
Being an avid long distance cyclist, where possible I tend to want to
keep to the main roads.
My Garmin though is loading my routes & then "where possible" its
sends me off constantly
on side roads, I mean clever idea but I usually don't want that.
I am planning to Bicycle through France soon, I have my routes all
ready planned & set up in
Mapsource, but need to stick to the planned route.
Appreciate as always your help
Simon
The only solution I've come up with is to set a "via" or mappoint at
every turn or intersection before uploading it to the receiver,
otherwise the receiver's auto-routing function will continually
re-compute the route.
There's a limit to the number of these in a single route, but I don't
know what that is offhand.

Print the Mapsource route and carry the paper with you and follow it. As
good as GPS is, paper maps, coupled with the human brain, are still superior
for finding the best routes.
You can set up "via points" or continually program in each sector as you go.

I don't know for sure but can't you copy the maps without the routing
