You are correct, my mistake. Caches are available internationally for
search by Postal Code, I made the mistake of inferring that the Benchmark
search page was similarly expansive. Benchmarks are currently supplied by
NGS data, and only available for US Zip Codes.

Thanks for correcting my reply. Hope the OP was looking for a benchmark
near a US address.

Sorry, need to correct myself, this is a US only Benchmark listing. The
Geocaches are international, but the benchmarks are only US.

Sorry for my confusion, and any I created.

That is handier to use than
http://www.ngs.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/ds_radius.prl
It didn't like my zip code, so I used a zip nearby.
Looking at one that I already "knew", I made comparison to NGS.

The descriptions are different. Searching for the PID or designation from
the NGS site doesn't retrieve anything in geocaching.

Geocaching:
JT2681 DESIGNATION - BM 96 M
JT2681 PID - JT2681
JT2681* NAD 83(1992)- 38 47 02.43307(N) 122 34 08.15547(W) ADJUSTED

NGS:
DH6285 DESIGNATION - 29 LAK 9.28
DH6285 PID - DH6285
DH6285* NAD 83(2007)- 38 47 02.36495(N) 122 34 09.35439(W) ADJUSTED

Geocaching doesn't seem to be current, as a station added in August 2008
isn't there... or maybe this is only a list of the little brass plates,
and doesn't include CORS stations.

There's an official benchmark at the SE corner of my property, deep in the
woods. It's been there since the mid to early 1900's (I think), used to
define the 4-corners of adjoining "township" regions. I can't find it in
any benchmark database. They're not all recorded digitally today.

Maybe they should revisit that area and check for continental drift.
If it's been ~100 years, I would expect it has moved somewhat, either
laterally, vertically, or more likely both.
