If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options
In the old days, 3-4 years ago, if you got a GPS for Christmas the
maps were almost out of date, if you registered it then (Xmas) you'd
have to pay to gett he new maps coming out in April. But if you waited
until roughly 30 days +/- to register you'd be eligible to get the
next set of maps for free. Does this still apply to GPS purchasers who
don't have lifetime updates? I'm specifically thinking of Garmin.

I think that would only apply if you hadn't already used it. When I got my
Nuvi 780, I only got a free update within 30 days of the first time it had
made satellite contact.
