Grrr...
I don't think I am totally stupid, but I have had a recurring routing
problem with Mapsource (6.15.7)
All I want to do is delete a single section of a wonderful route and replace
it with another.
Example:
Imagine a rectangle. Name the:
upper right square="A"
upper left square="B"
lower left square="C"
lower right square="D"

The route currently runs A>B>C
I Want to delete that section and replace it with
A>D>C

I know I could insert a couple of user waypoints and redesign the route,
but is there a simple way just to delete one section and replace it?

Tried everything else...honest,
yet that seems it should be a fairly common task
Ideas?

To me that is a totally other route. Or is what you talk about here in
the middle of a longer route?

I would open route preferences and delete B, then add D in the map.

It is a different picture if you have routes already and want to
recombine --- in my experience it is MUCH quicker to make a new one
with the old one behind on screen.

Choose selection tool. Click once on route to select it. Click on route
again and drag it to D. MapSource will recalculate the route via D.

Alternatively, if you chose B as a via-point, select B and drag it to D.

I seem to be able to create the new route a number of ways.
The problem is getting rid of the old leg.

I compounded my own problem with a baaad example.
It is NOT really a rectangle but a right triangle

"A" would be the point nearest the route starting point (not designated a
user waypoint)
"B" is the right angle point. (not designated a user waypoint)
"C" is the point connecting the remainder of the route.

So if I create a route leg from "A" to "C" it shows up purple.
BUT A>B>C remains.

TIA

Ok, so you DID create a new route instead of removing B from the old
one. Point B way not be a waypoint, but it is a route point for sure.
right-click it, it will show a menue allowing to delete it.
Alternatively double klcik the route in the list, select the point in
the text list, and delete from there.
