I have a custom POI file I downloaded from gps-city and loaded it into
my Nuvi 255w. (I did this some time ago.) However, the custom POIs
are in a rather inconvenient place. Also, this particular set I would
like to have the locations shown on the map as I drive, like my
Favorites do.

Is there any way I can get the Custom POI file to show locations on the
map like Favorites? If not, is there a way to move them all at once
(batch process, etc) into a custom category in my Favorites list? I
know I can copy them one at a time and then categorize them one at a
time, but that would be really tedious.

In case it's not clear from the initial info above, I have the data
cable to connect the Nuvi to my desktop (XP Pro), and Mapsource and POI
Loader are installed on the desktop.

That does not do what I was asking.

I want to have the CUSTOM POIs shown on the map "like the favorites
do". Or convert AS A BATCH to Favorites.

I specifically do not want to convert them one. at. a. time.

First you need an icon for your custom poi's. The name of the icon
has to be the same as the poi file's name.

Custompoi.csv
Custompoi.bmp

The need to be in the same folder on your computer. POI loader will
then load both the poi and the icon on to your GPS. Now, when you
drive by one of your custom poi, the icon will be displayed on your
map.

If you have several poi files, say one for railroad crossings, one for
school zones and one for Interstate exits, you can assign different
icons to each. Just name the icon the same as the poi files.

You can get icons from www.poifactory.com or make your own. They
should be no bigger than 24x24 pixels and be .bmp.

Will it show if I browse the map, too? Or only when I drive near
enough for the location to show? Because I just added a 24x24 bmp with
the same name as the custom POI file (RestAreas), pointed POI Loader at
the directory they are in, and after it confirmed that the POIs were
in, I browsed the map and could not see them. But I could see my
Favorites when browsing the map.
