Does anyone have experience values regarding using a colorado as an
automotive GPS?

Is the rather very portrait oriented screen a problem (vs the landscape
on nuvis)?

Is the lack of speech announcements an issue?

Does the Colorado do waypoint projection?
I could not find this in the manual..

Does the Colorado display POIs on the map while navigating
(and not in the highest zoom levele only like the nuvis do)?

For geocaching: I know the Colorado allows paperless caching. But the
descriptions do not include the pictures (spoilers, description page
pics etc)? Is there an easy way to collect the relevant pictures from
the website and store them in in the picture viewer for use when needed?

thanks
M

The Colorado is a bit of a compromise as an automotive unit but that
said I use my regularly in the car with City Navigator maps. I don't
miss the audio as much as I do the touch screen. I don't find the
narrow screen an issue. I bought mine primarily for off road but
rather than buying another automotive unit (I have a StreetPilot) I
just decided to add maps to the Colorado and live with it.

Yes it does.

It displays custom and map POIs, the zoom level at which they become
visible is configurable.

There is no automatic way to do this today. You can manually
download the images and view them but they don't get downloaded
automatically in a pocket query. There is some discussion on the GSAK
boards right now about adding that function to a GSAK Colorado Export
macro.

If you have other questions about the Colorado come check out the FAQ:

I'd need that for a MAC though. hmm

I have a GPSmap 60, I have PDA, what choice to make for a in car
autonavigation system. I did use the GPSmap 60 for autonavigation, but it's
limited, (BW, small screen, difficult to position in the car). I have seen
other people using a PDA for autonavigation. I decided to buy a dedicated
navigational unit for the car. The price for the complete system including
maps, bag, homeloader was just a tad over the price of a cardset for a
Garmin. And although it's very limited in it's use, my opinion is that for
in car use it's far better than any handheld GPS. So I am happy with two
dedicated GPS-machines, one for on my bike and walking another for in the
car use. A unit doing both is at the moment a compromise which is more
expensive than two sepperate units. So two fairly cheap machines fill the
requirement better than one expensive machine.
