I received an e-mail from Garmin saying "The City Navigator North
America 2008 Update Is Here" Click Here
<http://www.garmin.com/mapupdates>.
The page says "Enter unit serial number to find available updates"
I entered the serial number of my 60CSx and was told there are no
updates available. Huh?
Thanks,
Davoud

Many people have had the same problem, including me. Garmin
implemented their new system for updates without first making sure it
would work correctly. Even now that they know there are problems,
they still haven't fixed it.
I contacted Garmin tech support by phone and ordered the update. I
was issued an unlock code by email immediately. After more than 3
weeks, I still hadn't received the DVD by mail, so I called Garmin
again. It seems that the first person I talked to when I ordered the
update issued the unlock code, but forgot to send the DVD. To their
credit, the second person sent it by second-day air.
I think you'll have to contact Garmin to get your update. Be sure to
let them know how you "like" their new update system. I'm wondering
if Garmin is feeling sorry for its competitors. They seem to be doing
their best to help them. ;-)

This whole update thing is totally out of control at Garmin. I
purchased City Nav NT DVD when I purchased my new 60CSx in early July.
Subsequently an update came out for CN NT DVD which is titled Map Update
2008 City Navigator North America NT, which I received and installed
(actually received two copies due to a screwed up at Garmin) and
unlocked.
Yesterday I received an e-mail saying:
"Garmin is pleased to announce the new City Navigator 2008
Update <http://www.garmin.com/mapupdates> for North America. For the
most up-to-date maps and navigation on your portable Garmin GPS unit,
this is the software you want. This update offers full coverage for the
U.S, Canada and Puerto Rico - making it easy and convenient to update
the detailed maps and latest points of interest into your compatible
Garmin unit."
I have no idea if this is the same update I received in late July or a
subsequent update.
Anyone have an idea?

I didn't have that problem on August 8th, 07.

There is a lot of stuff on Garmin's site that doesn't work
correctly. Doen't this BIG profitable company have enough money
to hire programmers? Yes, they do, they are so fat, they just
don't care. It's what happens when you virtually have a lock on
the markets.

They're scumbags.

Really, I've waited 30 minutes three times, as late as today and
they've never picked up the phone once. Haven't replied to a tech
support request Since August 8th. Not one.

Wow, you must know the special code that will get you through to
someone?

Ha ha ha, good luck.

I'm fed up with these bastards and I'll do whatever it takes to
get the word out that they don't support their customers at all.
