I cannot update the software or maps on my parents Garmin c330.
Various posts in various forums indicates that Garmin doesn't know
which end is up when it comes to this unit, however, other users are
able to obtain and install the map CD from Garmin.
So far I have tried changing drivers with no luck. Windows identifies
the device (USB) just fine and the driver seems to be working, as the
webupdater and the StreetPilot software update program both identify
the device correctly, but both say there is no update available,
though the software is shown to be 2.50 and there are MANY new streets
not on it!
Any help is greatly appreciated, as this was a gift to my parents to
help them travel across the US and they can't use it like this, since
MY BROTHER'S 5 YEAR OLD HOUSE IS NOT IN IT! Nor are a lot of the
streets they have tried to look for.
Thanks!

Possible workaround for your brother's house: you could use Google Maps
or Yahoo maps to find its latitude and longitude, and than program it
as a favorite in the C330 - if it will let you do that (sorry, I don't
know if it will).

Assuming that the unit is registered, "MyGarmin" after you login is your best
bet. I've not had a lot of luck using WebUpdater. I seems to be ok for
hardware updates, but not maps.
BTW, I have a C330 and have purchased LifeTime Maps.

try manually typing the serial number vs USB connection -

to see what map updates might be available...

Or just get a bittorrent client (I recommend vuze), search for unlocked
2010 maps, and download them.
