No, according to the following from Garmin:
Please Note: Maps on preloaded data cards cannot be copied or viewed on a
computer. Reduced price map updates are not available for these cards; new
map cards will need to be purchased at full price should you choose to
update the maps. These cards are programmed on demand. Please allow 1-3
business days for programming prior to shipment.

Yes, read that part already on the garmin site. Thought that there
might be a back door way around it. I just wanted to combine some
files on one larger disk. Have multiple maps on one card.

I asked the same recently w/o getting an answer. How much free space
does the NT card anyway (I gather there is user-writable space on it, ie
the SD card is not totally ROM?)

This is (at best) only a partial answer. First, I have never purchased a
pre-formatted SD card, only the discs, so I can't address the copying question.
To find out how much space there is, put the SD card into a card reader, and use
Windows Explorer to look. Actually, with my c530, if I plug the unit itself
into the computer, with an SD card inserted, I can examine, read and write it,
as well as the internal memory.
On the c530 the internal memory is 1G, and it will accept a SD up to 2G, or so I
was told. I haven't tried a 4G SD card, as I don't own one.
My unit came without any cards, but with North American maps in the internal
memory. Since then I have updated the internal memory to the next-to-latest
"lower 48 states" (the NA maps have grown), and used Map Source to create a SD
card containing the rest of NA (Canada, Alaska & Hawaii), plus all of Europe and
Australia. The live quite happily together.
Have you tried to upload the maps from the SD card to Map Source? That should
work, as you need that in order to work with the maps on your PC -- creating
waypoints, etc. Once you have them in Map Source you should be able to download
them to a new SD, either via the Garmin device, or using a independent card
reader. NB, I haven't done this, as I don't have a preformatted SD card, but I
find it hard to believe that it wouldn't work. If you have problems, call up
Garmin and ask how to get your maps from the SD into Map Source. Once there I
don't think they will differ in any way from maps taken from a disc.
My 2 cents worth (at most).
