Hi
I am planing on bying a 76csx og 60csx gps in the us this summer. Is it
possible to change the base map to the one covering Europe? Or will it be
useles in Europe?
regards lasse

You can't change the basemap, but (depending on exactly where you're
going to be in Europe) you can buy maps which you can load into the
receiver. The basemaps don't have much detail, so you'll almost
certainly want to buy maps anyway.
Take a look at the map previews on Garmin's Web site to see if the
products cover the areas you're interested in.

That's nice to hear. I was fearing that the gps unit was to no use with the
wrong base map. So I can buy it in the us and bring it to denmark and then
by a map i can use instead of the base map? (the whole GPS thing i new to
me)

Yes. The basemaps provide only the coarsest level of detail, and
aren't good for much beyond seeing what city you're in.
Garmin has "City Navigator Europe", which seems (to me) to provide
detailed coverage of Denmark (and most of the rest of western
Europe).
You can use the Web site's "Mapsource Map Viewer" to see what it
offers:
http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/citynavntEurope.jsp
The NT version of the map database is compressed, so it takes up less
memory in your receiver. For example, the entire set of standard North
American maps take nearly 2GB of storage, while the NT version takes
less than 1GB. I don't know if there's any other difference between
the two versions. The 60Cx and 76Cx use microSD cards for map storage.
The NT version can only be used in receivers that support the NT
format (the 60Cx and 76Cx do).

I am pretty sure the answer is NO. Because base-map is on ROM not RAM
