Can GPS warn when speeding?

Since GPS can estimate arrival time, I assume they know the speed limit of
each road.
And since it also knows how fast the car is going, it is the perfect device
to warn the driver when the car is faster than the speed limit.

Does such GPS feature exist?

Possible, but I wouldn't want it. My GPS is too talkative already
(Garmin Nuvi). It will display the speed limit and my car's speed, so
it's really easy to see if I'm speeding.... I wouldn't want the gal
bugging me about it.

When driving in Europe the speed limits are all slightly different from the
UK and not very well indicated, and the penalties can be quite savage -
on-the-spot fines or even confiscation of your driving license, so a little
help would be welcome.

since the speed limit is part of the mapping database,
it would only get updated/changed with the map update.
Hence... if you have some local posted speed limit changes,
you will not see them until you acquire/buy a new map updae.

In driving from the Chicago area around the neighboring states,
I sometimes see the speed limit change correctly at the posted signs,
and at other times.... not at all,
or still has 55 vs the recently installed 65.
