Just back from 5100 mile trip and something I'd like to "fix":
Say I'm driving up from Florida to Hilton Head, SC
It's getting to be lunch time and on my 265T I click
where to ?
Point of Interest - Food ( or Fuel)
Now here's what I'd like to set:
It shows me the closest food listings as the crow flies.
I don't care that there is a McDonald's ( Or a Mobil) 0.1 miles West of me -
when THE NEXT EXIT is 12 miles away !!
Is there somehow / some way to have the GPS be smart enough to realize that
the next Food/Fuel I can get to is 12 miles away . Rather than showing me
400 Burger Kings 2.,.3, .4 , .6, .8 miles away. If I DID click on any of
those - after it checks the road path it would THEN show me that the
"nearest one" is really going to be a 23- 24 mile drive. When I GET to the
exit - the closest ones to the EXIT will be the closest. Currently we wait
until we get near the exit , but THEN - at 70 mph you're scrolling down to
see if anything worth stopping for - or maybe go to NEXT exit .
Thanks

Bob,
It probably depends upon your model. You didn't say what your's was.
On my 755T -- if you set a route FIRST
then go to the Main Screen > Where To? > Points of Interest > SELECT
NEAR AT THE BOTTOM > Select 'My Current Route' from the listing of 4 >
OK > select FOOD > All Food > then only those food places along your
route will be displayed.
NEAR AT THE BOTTOM > Select 'My Current Route' from the listing of 4 >
OK > select FOOD > All Food > then only those food places along your
I hope your unit can accomplish this.

Oops -- just noticed that you said you had a 265T. Perhaps you are in
luck with the above.

205W has the "Near...." on the bottom row on buttons; so it appears to

Also Garmin don't help by only supplying the Quick Start manual which
just says:
"To search for a location in a different area, touch Where to?>Near" -
rather than the fuller explanation in the downloadable full manual
Still they do supply a 48-page Safety and Product Information manual
and a 16-page NavTeq licence agreement with the 8-page quick start
manual - so they have their priorities right!!
