My Garmin 765WT software was upgraded recently.

When I turn my car off and the Garmin is on battery power, it immediately
shows "Low Battery" on the screen for some unknown reason.

When I push and hold the battery icon button, I get the battery information
at the end of this post.

Any idea how to tell if you really have a problem with the battery?

Bud H

From looking at those figures I'd say you definitely have a battery problem.
Or perhaps it's a charging problem.
My 765T is new and my figures are

Batt Voltage 3802 Batt Capacity 69%
Batt Current 0 (this is obviously the charging current)
Battery OK Cap

These figures are with Backlight at 40% (I assume this will have a
significant effect)
Use the Up/Down softkeys on the RHS centre to adjust.

The following figures are with the unit powered by the Garmin Mains Charger.
(If you have one of these use it and take another set of figures).

Batt Voltage 4031 Batt Capacity 100%
Batt Current 530
Battery Charging

Software Version 3.60 nuvi 765 V7 4GB P1 S3 330MHz

Hope this info is of help.
Patrick

Really interesting!!!

How old is your unit?
Mine is dead after a little bit more than 6 months; with no reasons the unit
do not start, even in the car cradle. Charging problem? Battery problem?
CPU problem?

If I remember well, mine is a V5.

I had the same problem with a nuvi 660... The unit seemed completely dead
-wouldn't boot up even with external power... I got it going with this strange
procedure:

After a few days, pressing the ON button allowed the unit to come on for just a
few seconds (as if the battery was 'almost' dead)... But if I plugged in
external power while the unit was briefly ON, it stayed on and eventually
recharged the battery...

The unit worked normally for a few weeks and went dead again... This time,
waiting for only about one day, the unit came on briefly and the "recovery"
procedure worked again...

We gave the unit away, so I don't know just what the ultimate solution to that
particular problem was...

So the unit came back from Garmin support and... It was a new one (v.9)
because the Garmin guys were not able to fix my original nüvi 765.

Yeah, pretty cool to have "the latest" version, but the V.9 definetely do
not recognise SD cards that are bigger than 2 GB; whereas my original V.5
(or 6) had no problem with 4GB SD cards!
