Have a Nuvi 260 and don't know if the battery is on its way out. Starting
from a full charge it takes about 40 minutes before it's down to one
indicator bar and the low battery warning pops up. I assume that the
charging system is working OK and it's the battery--looking for some
confirmation or other possible causes. Not the cold as I timed it in the
house. I've seen "How To" video's on replacing the battery and sites where
they can be purchased----has anyone gone this route?
Comments appreciated.

My 750 had the same problem. I bought a replacement battery from
BatteryShip.com. Price was 20.95. The order came with tools to do
the replacement. Worked great. Quick and easy. GPS is good as new.
I am very pleased.
The same battery I bought is listed for the 260. Check it out at
BatteryShip.com. Worked very, very well for me.

I replaced the battery in my Nuvi 350 with one from BatteryShip.com.
The new battery is definitely better than the old one. However my
problem was the old battery would not hold its charge over a longer
period of time like a month or two of not being used.
I never ran a test of continuous run time, but I recall others
complaining about relatively short times. Did you run such a test when
your Nuvi was new? You may find that 40 minutes is typical of Nuvi
units intended to be run from a vehicle battery.
I recommend going ahead and replacing the battery based on its age, but
consider any improvement in run time as a bonus!

Thanks for the comment. For info--In the past, the battery used to last
between 3.5 and 4 hours before it got tired.
