I have a c530 street pilot. I will be driving in Australia this summer, and
would like to get the maps. But I'm very confused by the listings I find
on-line. Note that I am searching U.S. sites.

Garmin gives a list price of $293.33 for the CD ROM, 010-11024-00, and $320.00
for the SD/miniSD, 010-10763-00. I have Googled on the CD part number and
turned up several listings with that part number, some with the proper
illustration (one with none) listing discounts off a "retail price" of $149.99,
which is the official price of the non-NT version, 010-10389-00.

Does anyone know what is going on here? Can I believe the part number if the
given price is incorrect? One of the sites is TigerDirect, which doesn't have a
very savory rep., but it isn't the only one with this, and some Canadian sites
have comparable part-number/price mis-match.

Any advice will be welcome.

You can buy them here in Australia for A$269 including taxes - Johnny Appleseed
sells them ( http://www.ja-gps.com.au )

Garmin's Australian maps are pretty expensive compared to other areas,
presumably because the market is much smaller & so less chance to recover
overheads.

See my reply elsewhere. The price (in the US) has dropped to $149.00 US, for
both the CD and the SD. The web-site is just mucked up.

It should be interesting using the GPS in Australia. On our first two visits we
drove seat-of-the-pants & RAAC maps. Made it from Sydney to Exmouth the first
trip and around Tas., then Sydney to Darwin, Broome, Cairns and Brisbane the
second. Lots of miles, even more Kilometers! But no breakdowns.

The Garmin web-site is inconsistent. I spoke to them, and if you start from a
unit (say nüvi 200) and go to maps from there the miniSD, 010-10763-00 is listed
for $149.00. (But not if you start from the "MAPS" tab and go from there!
There, it's still $320.) So it is possible that the CD has also been reduced.
I'll have to try and find another route to the listings.

Or do a quick google search for 010-10763-00 and find it for 100-120 or
so. One of the first few hits is a vendor who posts here all the time
actually. I have not bought from him but, others have.
