Hi,

I'm a newbie, with my first GPS (nuvi 250), all I see are two English
voices (USA & UK). Both are female. I've searched the Garmin site, but
haven't found anything. Are there new voices, i.e. male that I can
download? If so, how do I get them.

Thanks,

Norm

PS Can I, or should I delete all the non-English languages from my GPS
if I never intend to use them?

I've used them a couple of times when I was going to be visiting another
country. It gives you a little familiarity listening to that language
beforehand.

The nature of my work leaves me scrambling for addresses all day, so I
get to listen to my nuvi prattle on in the same voice for about 8-12
hours a day every day. Sometimes listening to it in another language
is good just to break pace.

I really kind of wish they had also included a set of tones similar to
subway or light rail chimes instead of voice instructions for audio
cues. I know they can do it: That's how the nuvi gets your attention
to proximity alerts and overspeed warnings already...

Norm,

You can delete any voices that you don't use. Just don't delete the folder
garmin/voices on your nivi 250.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll keep the foreign languages.

Do either of you know if their are any English languages other than
the UK/USA female voices?
