Hi,

many phone with build-in GPS can use Garmin mobile XT. Go go Garmin
webpage and search Garmin mobile XT, then click Specs, you will see
the Compatible Phones list.

Garmin also has lots of other products such as Mobile 10 which will
suport smartphone, BlackBerry, etc.

Thanks for the reply, JD. Unfortunately, here is the
answer I got straight from Garmin:

I regret Verizon Wireless does not support Garmin XT software.
Currently, Verizon Wireless does not offer handsets which support the
Garmin XT software. I am unable to provide information regarding which
equipment is being considered or approximate release dates, as this may
raise expectations that may not be met.

Verizon has their own version of GPS software, which
unfortunately, requires payment for minutes used, etc.
That is what I was trying to get away from- because
the Garmin XT software advertises that it does not use
airtime to function. Silly me, wanting to use hardware
that I paid for free instead of paying Verizon for airtime
when I need to use it.

Verizon will charge you if you use their network to access traffic info from
Garmin. Basic GPS functionality will be free.

Not with Verizon. The GPS in all Verizon products
is disabled in firmware unless you are willing to
pay for their VZ Navigator, which uses airtime. And
those little money-grubbing jerks will not enable
the GPS for you to use your own software!
