Hi.
I have a 76CSx. My friend has a 60. We were out on a geocache hunt for one
I couldn't find. I'd been 4 times to look for it, coming from two different
directions.

He led this time and his 60 put us right on top of it. Found within 30
seconds. My unit was showing that I still was 26 metres West of it - it was
sending me back to where I'd been 4 times before.

On the way home we stopped at another I had on my list. From the car, his
showed 19metres ENE. Mine showed 17m ESE.

Is there some explanation for this that I am not aware of? I would have
thought same satellites etc etc.

BTW, GC1NYEK was the first we found. GC279VO we didn't find - started to
rain heavily.

thanks for your consideration

Check datum on both units. I bet they're set differently. Apparently,
his concurs with whatever the geocache list is using, and yours doesn't.

evil, but one look at the hero's rugged countenance and she'd betray
her own father.

WGS84 for mine, his and the hider. Unless there's some way of changing the
settings on each machine that I can't see, we're using Garmin Topo
Australia. That being the case, there's still something nagging at me that
you are pointing in the right direction. I just can't extrapolate the
solution from the datum suggestion yet. Any other hints? Thanks

wonder how the GPS coords look just sitting idle right next to each other ?

Funny you should mention that. On GC26N8M, we were within a metre of each
other. Standing next to the tree, the only difference/s were the gradual
satellite shift as they moved around.
