I have a 4 gig card in my 76csx with close to 3.8 gigs of maps
installed. That amount does slow things down at initial startup. Its
takes well over a minute now to see a map on screen. After that, the
76csx operates normally.
I don't believe that there is any longer a limit on maximum card side
with the latest firmware.

Bob,
What firmware you got?

Firmware 4.10.
Actually, I only have 3.08 gb on the card.
It appears that the fact that there is a large card in there that
causes the slowdown. Even with a single map segment installed on the 4
gig card it takes a long tme to load. Putting a reasonable map
collection on a 1 gig card speeds everything up.
Of course, its very unlikely that I will ever need the entire US,
Canada and Mexico, plus as many topo maps as will fit until it reaches
the 2025 map segment limit. I just wanted to see what would happen.
For the life of me, I can't imagine that much data on a card smaller
than my finger nail.
