Hi Folks....
Need some tracking info on 76CSx.
Went cross-country skiing and tracked my path.
Then uploaded to mapsource
Tracking properties window very cool:
all the altitude, leg length, leg speed, avg. speed, etc.
(wish there was a running leg length total feature, so as to find 1/2 way
point etc.)
Turned tracking off on unit
Next day uploaded the same track, but no leg length or any speed stuff.
Looked at the .gpx file--it still has that info, but the track itself on the
unit apparently does not any more.
(Garmin manual says unit info & .gpx info not related -- so they how'd I get
the info in the first place?
What gives?

Not sure if this is the complete answer, but I understand that if you save a
track the unit drops some of the information, but don't know how much.

That's what Garmin manual seems to indicate.
So why did it appear in the first place?
If the info is still there in the gpx file, why doesn't the unit access that
when you upload to Mapsource?
Ain't that big a file!

Not sure of all the steps you went through, but when you originally create a
track it exists on the unit as a "track log" and contains all the info. Once
you save it, and I think this is where the .gpx file is created, it simply
becomes a "track" and has lost some of the original info. But I am no expert
on tracks so some/all of my thinking may be in error.

Sounds good to me....
Fits what I have experienced
So I created a new track log.
All data appears.
save it...some data excised from saved track
track logs still appear in Mapsource
still on card as .gpx.
Delete track log...only the saved track apperars.
You got it right.
