I am looking at a 660 refurbished on ebay. There seems to be tons of these
refurb units for sale online, was there a bad production run or something?
All of the feedback on these looks very positive.

They come with a 1 year manufacturer warranty and are around $300 - which
seems like a good price. Any thoughts on if this is a good idea or not?

Thanks.

Most refurbished tools or electronics are closeouts or end of production
runs during slow times to move out product. They are able to sell them at a
lower price since they give a reduced warranty in most cases. Just think
about it, given that there are outlets in shopping malls around the country
selling "refurbished" goods, how many do you think have been returned?

Chances are about 99% you'll get a brand new from the factory unit in
perfect condition.

I don't know what a 660 sells for but you can get a 750 for around $50
to $75 more, new.

Refurbished units are, for the most part, items that have been
returned suffering from user stupidity or units returned because the
buyer changed his/her mind. There's nothing wrong with the unit. They
can be a very good buy.

I just bought a brand new 750 at Sams Club for $299. Saw 760 new
somewhere (ad in newspaper today) for $350. $300 for a refurbished
unit does not sound like a good buy to me.
