When I went walking in the past the next waypoint was shown when
reaching the previous one. Now it only shows waypoint 1. I must have
altered something, but I know not what, I have been through the settings
and can't find the one that rectifies it. Can someone kindly help please?

That sounds more like the track back function, where the unit navigates to
the each track point, in reverse order in a previously recorded track. Are
you sure you are not confusing navigating to a waypoint with doing a track
back?

I'm pretty certain not. I know that when I was following my route the
next waypoint displayed, now it sticks on the first waypoint.

Go to main menu -> Routes -> press menu. It gives the option of "Off
road transition".
Make sure this is set to "auto", then it will change to the next
waypoint when reaching the previous one.
