I just got my 60CSx. I have installed City Navigator NA. When I am on the
map page and I zoom in to the higher levels, I have a blue circle centered
around the position marker. I am sure that when I first used the gps several
days ago, I did not have the blue circle. I am assuming that I have changed
some setting. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the blue circle?? I have
been unable to find any reference in the manual to this problem.

Thanks,

This just shows you the degree of accuracy based on signal strength
etc. If you can turn it off, I don't know how. Just spent 5 minutes
looking at the various screens and couldn't see anywhere to do so.

This blue circle is the estimated position error displayed on the map.

A program is never finished until the programmer dies.

On my 76CSX with 20 feet epe, it shows a circle over 1500 feet in
diameter.

I can't find any explanation of the scale bar or the circle in the
users manual.
Based on use, I've always taken the 800 ft scale to mean 800 feet is
the lenth of the line shown on the screen as with most maps. On a
Lowrance it seems to indicate the width of the information displayed.

That is correct with regard to the scale line.

The accuracy circle size includes not only the EPE of the GPS
measurement, but also an estimate of the map accuracy. So it'll be
much larger if you just have the basemap loaded for the area shown than
if you have the more accurate CityNavigator maps. The idea is that
your actual position *as shown on the map* is likely to be somewhere
within the circle.
