It is obvious from posts here, as well as my experience that the manual
is pretty poor. I have looked at the downloadable manual on Gamins site,
that is the same as mine. An example is the block download option which
I was pointed to here. Is there a site that I can access that will help
me with all these extras that are not in the manual? Don't ask me which
ones because until I see them I don't know what's there. ;-)

Go to the 60Cx software updates download page:

http://www.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00421-00

it will take you through a lawyer page to the updates and then you can
go to the unit software updates page here:

http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1225

That has a list of the updates by version. You can read through the
changes and see what was added and fixed.

That same page has a link to the manuals and that will get you a
download of the latest version of the manual as a *.pdf file. The most
recent version of the 60Cx user's manual is Rev. E, Mar, 2006.

I really doubt that that is the same as the one that came with your GPS.
If it is you are fortunate, in many cases only the original or Rev. A
manual is printed and that is all everyone ever gets.

In any case, the Rev. E manual for the 60Cx is not up to date. I just
checked it and one of the features added in the past (two versions back,
in V2.90) is not mentioned in the manual and not shown in the
illustrations. That is the feature of being able to save the active
track log to a *.gpx file on data card.

The more you use the more you'll figure things out, it takes some time.
I been using handhelds for 10 years but a Garmin for only a few
months. I occasionally refer to the manual but just figure things out
for the most part because the GPS speaks for the answers better than the
manual in some cases.

People like reading that the newer Garmins are "feature rich" and have a
long list of things they can do. The overhead on that is a lot of
menus, sub menus, settings, options, and choice. If you're new to GPS
and the terminology the learning curve gets even steeper.

Please don't read any anger into my reply, I am trying to be helpful.

Oh yeah, one more thing. That damn Easy Button from Staples is no help
at all! :>)

Although it's not the latest 60 CSX manual.

Probably means the Mass Storage Mode, that is not mentioned in the
online manual either.

There's no money to be made in keeping manuals up to date for GPS
receivers that have already been sold.
