All is claimed to have gone well in the update, but after installing
this, it refuses to acquire.

The diag screen [press satellite strength] shows satellites, but no
acquire.

Software Version 4.00
Audio Version 2.30
GPS SW Version 2.90m

Still running North America 2009

Ran the updater again, told it to reinstall, no joy.
Reset all to factory, no joy...

Sledgehammer?

And I am sure you followed the recommended procedures correctly for a

To the letter. Put the Garmin in the freezer, left it overnight, then
surrounded it in liquid helium.
Presumably you have a useful point somewhere....
