I see where the Garmin 255w is advertised @ $99 this week.
Any plus's or minus's I should know about?
What about the battery recall issue? I see where one can enter the serial#
on the website to find out if a particular GPS is affected or not, but how
can I find out before purchasing one?
Thanks,
John

A reputable supplier should accept a return if you find the unit is listed as
having a defective battery.

The Nuvi 200 series is now listed as 'Discontinued' by Garmin.

Is it? Thanks. Probably not much point in getting a lifetime maps
update for my 200w then. I was considering a new one anyway since I'd
like the choice of multiple via points.

I don't understand what the two have to do with one another.

Nothing really. The only criteria to concern yourself with is whether
your unit requires the NT maps format. AFAIK, there has been no
announcement of a new mapping software scheme that would change that format.

I have several Street Pilots and a Quest 2 that are only good until such
time as we can no longer find a majority of the streets we're looking
for as the maps used are not of the NT variety.

Meanwhile, the Lifetime Map subscription - especially when you purchase
from a third party like Amazon.com, GPS City, etc. at a discounted price
offer the biggest bang for your buck if you want to keep the maps as
current as possible. Two map upgrades off the lifetime subscription and
you're easily $40 - $50 ahead of the game compared to two "one-off
upgrades."
