I now have ny Nuvi 1450 up and running. And I'm registered and have
downloaded the latest maps.
Question 1. When I turn it on, each time it asks for language and
acceptance of agreements--can this be turned off?
2. When I click "View Map" it always gives me downtown Chicago
How do I change this.
3.Similarly when I click "Where to", and then "Go Home" It again
takes me to the chicago map.
4. When I click favorites, "home" is there

Oh yes, somebody asked where I live--in snowy, cold Upstate New York.
And every year I make a 3-week trip to Germany and travel around
there.
--now if these questions are answered somewhere else, please help and
direct me there so I don't have to interfere with other postings.
Many thanks
Mahl

Maybe you haven't set the language yet. Try setting it all up in
Tools - Settings - Language.

It'll always ask for your agreement, but will soon time out and
continue if you don't give it.

Has it got satellite lock (green bars showing, top left of
screen)? You may need to be outdoors for this.

Did you put that entry for home there yourself? And after
satellite lock?

still not sure why you needed the 1450 vs 1350 for your Germany trip.

language - set in the Settings -> Language
Acceptance... it will timeout - it's the usual safety message.

has the GPS actually locked onto the sats - green bars in upper left corner
?
View Map is where the sats "think" you are located.

Home is a special place - have you set it up in My Data ?
of course you have to save a current location and then point to it via My
Data.

need to set "home" to any fav - but in My Data -

ok - yeah that was me.... thought maybe you were in Germany.
my son is over there for a year - just south of Nuremberg

BTW - did you purchase the Europe maps from Garmin for your trip ?
Did you download, get the DVD, or the SD card ?

Does the 1450 have a way to turn off safe mode? The safety message will
go away permenantly then.

Seems a good idea to me. The 1450 supports custom designed routes using
multiple via points; the 1350 doesn't - it will just take you from A to B.
